Materials: smooth fine cotton, a 2.0 mm hook, polyester fibrefill, tapestry needle, scissors, pins, stitch markers and measuring tape. Use a pair of 8 mm sew-on eyes, or embroider the eyes for keychains given to children. Brown yarn supplies the triangular nose and mouth. Add a 15 mm split ring and a small lobster clasp, or use the reinforced yarn loop alone. A 1.5 mm hook is an option for a smaller version; check the new gauge and eye fit.
Skill: Intermediate. Techniques include joined rounds, spiral sc rounds, turned rows, FLO, back-loop decreases, small rose curls, increases, folded arm closures, small sewn pieces and embroidery.
Size: about 10.0 cm tall at the stated gauge, within a 9-11 cm size range. The body is about 3.6 cm across and the cheek section about 4.2 cm across before fleece relief. Measure from the soles to the highest crown curl, excluding the yarn hanger, split ring and clasp. Gauge, cotton, curl fullness, stuffing and assembly determine the final size.
A keychain is an accessory, not a toy. Keep small parts and yarn loops away from young children and pets. Use embroidered eyes for children and keep the finished accessory out of reach of young children. Follow the cotton yarn label for care. Digital crochet instructions only; no finished sheep, yarn, stuffing or hardware are included.
