Twenty-one flower garden coasters, one crochet PDF
Crochet a domed coaster ringed with wire-stemmed flowers. With nothing on it the flowers splay out round the dome; set a mug on it and the middle dips, the rim lifts and the flowers rise up to hug the cup. Each of the 21 coasters has its own flower: a daisy, cherry blossom, forget-me-not, cosmos, buttercup, anemone, poppy, sunflower, marigold, gerbera, pansy, water lily, tulip, crocus, bluebell, rose, peony, carnation, lavender, clover or hydrangea. Every coaster has twelve stems: ten flowers and two small creatures, a butterfly, bee, ladybird or dragonfly.
Pattern details
- 21 original patterns in one 36-page English PDF.
- US crochet terms with a UK conversion table.
- Linked contents, PDF bookmarks, and a counted table for every row of the dish and of every flower, leaf and creature.
- One domed dish and three edgings that all end on the same 60 stitches, so any flower goes on any coaster.
- A stem table on every coaster page: the stitch for each stem, its length, and the length of wire to cut.
- Step-by-step wire wrapping and diagrams of where the stems go and how the coaster moves when a mug is set on it.
Materials: DK cotton in the colours on each coaster's page, a 3.0 mm hook for the dish and a 2.5 mm hook for the flowers, florist wire (22 to 24 gauge), wire cutters, glue, tapestry needle and removable stitch markers. Confident beginner: a crocheted dish, small flat motifs and wrapping wire stems.
Size: every dish is about 8.7 cm across when pressed flat, before the edging, at the stated gauge; a standard mug sits on its middle. Flowers are about 2.5 to 6.5 cm across; stems are 5 to 11 cm. Your yarn and tension set the final size.
Decorative table and shelf pieces. Keep wired coasters away from candles and flames, and out of reach of babies, young children and pets. Digital crochet instructions only; no finished coaster or yarn is included.
