Four Christmas characters with details that spill beyond the tote

Make a Christmas Gnome, Snowman, Gingerbread House or Reindeer on the same cord tote. A white snow-cap bobble rim links the four designs. This 25-page English PDF includes the shared bag construction and a two-page chapter for each character.
Pattern details

Inside the pattern

  • A 52-hole base, 100 stitches around, 32 body rounds, two tubular handles and a fabric liner.
  • A gnome with a floppy red cone hat, round pink nose, holly and a loop-stitch beard hanging 6 cm below the base. The gnome has no eyes.
  • A snowman with coal dot eyes, a carrot nose, a top hat and a red scarf with a 10 cm free tail over the right side.
  • A gingerbread house with roof icing, a striped candy-cane door frame, two yellow windows, five gumdrops and a tiny gingerbread man.
  • A reindeer with a cream muzzle, a red bobble-textured nose, dot eyes, raised antlers, holly and a bell on ribbon.
  • Counted rows and rounds, a colour beside every instruction, US terms with UK conversion, gauge, vector construction and placement diagrams, linked contents, bookmarks, assembly and care.

Materials and finished size

Use 2.0 mm woven craft cord, held TWO strands together for the body and ONE strand for the handles; DK cotton for the character pieces and snow-cap rim; a 22 x 10 cm pre-punched base with 52 holes; and a pre-sewn fabric liner. Hooks: 3.5 mm body and snow-cap, 2.5 mm tabs, 3.0 mm handle tubes and DK character pieces. Add needles, markers, sewing thread, polyester stuffing and measuring tape. The reindeer uses a small bell and ribbon; thin craft wire, tape, pliers and wire cutters are optional for the antlers.

Shopping allowances per tote: 600 m / 656 yd of the main cord colour, plus DK cotton in the per-colour amounts printed in the PDF. At the stated gauge the flattened shell measures about 27.8 cm across the side folds and 20 cm high above the base; each handle tube is about 28 cm long. The main fronts are 21 cm wide. Body colours are red, icy blue, caramel and chestnut. The snowman, gingerbread man and reindeer have no mouths.
