Start with a foundation chain, learn one simple texture and watch the stripes grow. This beginner-friendly set brings together four blankets in one 36-page English PDF, with four sizes for every design: Baby, Lap, Throw and Twin.
Pattern details

Bulky (#5) acrylic and a 9.0 mm hook make these blankets quick to make in long, easy rows. Each design keeps its own simple stitch throughout the body. Colour changes happen at row ends, and a plain three-round single crochet border finishes the edges.

Choose your blanket

  • Rose Stripe: dusty pink and cream wide stripes with a pink border; back-loop single crochet makes soft horizontal ridges.
  • Calm Coast: navy, mid blue, soft blue and mint blocks with narrow cream separators and a cream border; moss stitch gives a gentle woven texture.
  • Oatmeal: oatmeal, sand and charcoal pinstripes with a charcoal border; third-loop half double crochet creates knit-like ribs.
  • Candy Cane: broad red, cream and forest green Christmas stripes with a red border; suzette stitch uses a simple single-and-double crochet pair.

Materials and sizing

Use bulky (#5) acrylic, a 9.0 mm hook, a yarn needle, scissors, stitch markers and a tape measure. Match the printed stitch gauge before starting. The size groups are about 76 x 90 cm, 100 x 130 cm, 127 x 152 cm and 165 x 215 cm, including the border; each design's exact dimensions at gauge are in its size table. Yarn amounts are planning allowances with 10% included.

Machine wash only as allowed by the yarn label and dry flat. A baby blanket is for awake, supervised use. Keep it, and all soft objects, out of a baby's sleep space.
