Inside the pattern

  • One shared tote body, two tubular handles, four pearl-centred handle flowers and liner-fitting instructions.
  • One shared Lady base: neck-down torso, head, separate arms, three petal-skirt tiers, hair bun and sun hat.
  • A scalloped umbrella, a flower-filled basket, an embroidered folding fan and a daisy bouquet, with three daisies on the matching hat.
  • US crochet terms, written rows and rounds, stitch counts, vector construction diagrams, four front layouts, linked contents and page bookmarks.

Materials and construction

Use a 22 x 10 cm pre-punched base with 52 holes, 2.0 mm woven craft cord, matching appliqué yarn, a pre-sewn fabric liner, hot glue, thin craft wire and faux pearls. The body uses two strands of cord together with a 3.5 mm hook. The handles use ONE strand of the same cord: a 2.5 mm hook for the tabs and a 3.0 mm hook for the tube. Use one strand of appliqué yarn with a 2.0 mm hook for the small parts, 2.5 mm for the large flowers and 3.0 mm for the handle flowers. You will also need needles, sewing thread, scissors, markers, wire cutters, pliers and tape.

The tote has 100 stitches around and 32 body rounds. Each handle tube is about 28 cm long. Choose light blue/pink/beige, lavender/cream/sage, mint/white/coral or butter yellow/white/sage green.
