Ten cosy Christmas ducks, one crochet PDF
Make a little Christmas scene for a shelf or mantel. Stocking Duck, Armchair Duck, Gentleman Duck, Star Duck, Gift Duck, Candy Cane Duck, Sofa Duck, Sweater Duck, Reindeer Duck and Lights Duck share a white shaped body, flat wings, a two-part yellow beak and three-toed feet. Their poses, colourful accessories and little props give each character a different Christmas story.

Materials: sport weight yarn, slightly thinner yellow yarn for the beak and feet, a 2.5 mm hook, polyester fibrefill, black embroidery thread, tapestry needle, scissors, removable stitch markers, pins and ruler. Some props use trimmed card or foam inserts. The candy cane uses a 14.6 cm covered flexible core. Reindeer Duck can hold an optional 6 mm jingle bell inside a crocheted cover. All eyes are embroidered closed.
Skill: intermediate. The shaped head uses cut-and-rejoin short rows with numbered stitch-entry lists and diagrams. Other techniques include sc rounds, turned rows, increases, decreases, FLO/BLO, double crochet heel shaping, colour stripes, tiny bobbles and sewing.
Size: about 9-11 cm per duck at the stated gauge when its body is gently upright, excluding an optional hanging loop. The lying duck is about 9.3 cm along its body and 4.4 cm high with raised feet. The armchair is about 6.4 x 5.0 x 7.1 cm; the sofa is about 12.9 x 5.0 x 6.4 cm, including its legs. The candy cane is about 12.6 cm high. Yarn, gauge, filling and assembly affect the final size.
Furniture versions are shelf decorations only. Versions without furniture include an optional reinforced sewn loop for a tree ornament or large keychain. These are decorations: keep small parts, bells, cords and loops away from young children. Spot-clean gently; do not soak card inserts, the cane core or the metal bell.
