Yarn, size and fit: 1 mm fine cotton with a 2.2 mm hook is the original small-glass size. DK suits a small mug or glass; worsted/aran makes the larger size for a standard mug. Match the stated gauge and choose a cup foot no wider than its clear centre.

Sizes are estimated from the 60-stitch outer round: diameter = 60 / dc stitches x 10 / pi. The clear centre is 75% of that diameter, rounded down to 0.1 cm for edge clearance. Lightly flatten the dry disc to measure; then use it RIGHT SIDE UP as a low convex dome, rim on the table. Adjust the hook to meet your chosen row. These are coasters for cups, not hot pans.
