Twenty-one pop-up mushroom coasters, one crochet PDF
Make a mushroom ring that rises round your cup. With nothing on it, the coaster sits RIGHT SIDE UP as a low dome: centre raised, rim on the table, mushrooms lying out. Set a cup on the clear centre and its weight presses the dome down, raising the mushrooms round the cup. Lift the cup and they relax.

Woodland Mushrooms
Red Toadstool, Porcini, Chanterelle, Shiitake, Button Mushroom, Inkcap and Woodland Mix. Earthy colours, stitched gills and cracks, and plain or spotted caps.
Fairy Garden Mushrooms
Pink Fairy, Lavender Dream, Night Glow, Rainbow Ring, Golden Sun, Mint & Cream and Kawaii Faces. Pastels, bright cotton colours and tiny embroidered stem faces.
Seasonal Mushrooms
Autumn Forest, Halloween, Snowy Christmas, Holly Christmas, Spring Blossom, Valentine and Summer Meadow. Oak Leaves, Holly Leaves with red berry knots, five-petal Blossoms and Mini Daisies replace minis in four designs.
Materials: 5-ply cotton (about 2 mm strand). Work the base and edge with 2 strands held together on a 4.0 mm hook; work every cap, stem, mini and accent with 1 strand on a 2.5 mm hook. You also need a yarn needle, scissors, a stitch marker and a little fibrefill for the stems. Sew the caps to their stems and sew every piece under the rim. Confident beginner: joined rounds, small motifs, embroidery and sewing.
Size at the working gauge: the shared base is about 9.1 cm across before edging and about 10.1 cm including the edge, with a clear centre of about 6.8 cm. Choose a cup base up to 6.5 cm across. Large Caps are about 1.5 cm across and Small Caps about 1.2 cm; all stems are about 0.8 cm across. Large Stems are about 1.4 cm long, Small Stems about 1.1 cm, and the Inkcap's Tall Stems about 2.5 cm. Working gauge: 14 sc and 20 rows over 10 cm with doubled cotton on the 4.0 mm hook; 24 sc and 28 rows with one strand on the 2.5 mm hook. Yarn and tension set the finished size.
