A coaster that folds into a little potted plant. Crochet a flat white base with a rim of plant motifs, fold it in half and in half again, then tuck the point into its own small crocheted pot. Lift it out and open it flat beneath a mug.
Pattern details

Materials: DK cotton, a 4 mm hook adjusted to gauge, tapestry needle, scissors, removable markers and measuring tape. Optional removable plastic-canvas ring liner. Intermediate crochet: joined rounds, shaping, post stitches, puffs, bobbles, picots and sewing small pieces.

Size: plain base about 10 cm across, with the plant motifs outside the clear centre. Keep an 8 cm mug base within that centre. Pots are about 6.45-6.68 cm tall and 6.91-7.51 cm across outside, with a lined opening about 6.11 cm wide. Finished motif spans vary by plant and are listed on its page. Yarn and tension set the finished size; measure both pieces before folding.

No wire or glue. The coaster lifts out of the pot and opens flat again. Remove the optional liner before washing and dry the coaster flat according to the yarn label. Digital crochet instructions only; finished coasters, yarn and supplies are not included.
