Four festive shapes for a welcoming Christmas doorway
Choose a cream star with blush poinsettia, a red heart with a cream rose, a green Christmas tree with a gold topper, or a frosty white bauble with a white-and-silver snowflake flower. Star, Heart and Bauble have a pine fan, three stuffed pinecones, a bow and six pearl bobbles. The Tree has an exposed gold star, three pearl bobbles and a red bow above the trunk. All four have three beaded dangles with bells.
Pattern details
This 32-page English PDF includes four designs. The shared small pieces and methods are printed once, followed by a two-page counted-shape and placement spread for each hanger.
Inside the pattern
- Star: five cream points, sage and gold trim, an eight-bract blush-and-sage poinsettia, two sage tree charms and a blush heart.
- Heart: two rounded red lobes with a 2.5 cm cleft, a cream picot edge, a large cream rose with holly and red berries, two cream stars and a red mini heart.
- Tree: a green triangle with trunk, exposed gold star topper, three Cream pearl bobbles, a Red trunk bow, six coloured baubles and Cream garland, two candy canes and gingerbread with dot eyes and no mouth. No pine sprigs or pinecones are used on the Tree.
- Bauble: a round frosty white shape with ice-blue trim, gold cap and loop, raised snowflake flower, two small snowflakes and an ice-blue mini ornament.
- Counted rows and rounds, side-by-side Front and Back totals, per-design colours, linked contents, bookmarks, measured vector front drawings, US crochet terms with UK conversion, finishing and care.
Materials and size
Use worsted / Aran weight (#4) acrylic or cotton with a 4.5 mm hook for the padded panels and rim, and DK (#3) with a 3.0 mm hook for decorations and cords. Add washable stuffing, thin soft felt for the tree, 7 wooden beads (12-16 mm), 3 jingle bells (20-25 mm), a suitable over-the-door wreath hook and ordinary crochet tools. An optional satin bow may replace the crocheted bow.
At gauge, padded shapes are about 22.8-23.7 cm wide and 22.1-23.7 cm high. The full hangers measure about 45.5-49.8 cm from the hanging-loop top to the lowest bell. Centre flowers are about 9.6-10.4 cm across; the tree has a 3.6 cm gold star topper. Three dangle cords measure 13 / 14 / 13 cm before their bell loops. Finished size depends on gauge and arrangement.
Shopping allowances: Star 395 m; Heart 425 m; Tree 324 m; Bauble 415 m. The PDF lists each shade and yarn weight separately. These allowances include sewing tails.
Intermediate level. Spot clean and dry flat. Bells and beads are small parts: keep away from small children. Decoration, not a toy.
