Four tall Christmas gnomes for a welcoming doorway

Choose a moss-green Poinsettia Gnome, a red Holly Gnome, a cream Winter White Gnome or a brown Woodland Gnome. Each has a folded cone hat, white loop-stitch beard and round pink-beige nose, with no eyes or mouth. A flat shield pocket holds a removable insert, and reinforced loops with a back riser share the hanging weight.
Pattern details

This 40-page English PDF includes four designs. The shared base and each small decoration are printed once, followed by a two-page colour and placement spread for each gnome.

Inside the pattern

  • Poinsettia: 3 large and 4 small red poinsettias, 8 green leaves and 9 red berries.
  • Holly: 10 holly leaves, 15 red berries, 2 small white poinsettias and a short red ribbon bow.
  • Winter White: a silver-grey brim, 4 snowflakes, 5 white roses, 3 grey pinecones and 6 pale leaves.
  • Woodland: 4 pinecones, 4 pine sprigs, 3 red-cap mini mushrooms and 6 leaves.
  • Counted row and round tables, per-design colours and quantities, numbered vector placement drawings, linked contents, bookmarks, US terms with UK conversion, finishing and care.

Materials and size

Use worsted / Aran weight (#4) acrylic or cotton, a 4.5 mm hook for large pieces and a 3.5 mm hook for decorations. Add washable stuffing, plastic canvas or dry cardboard for the removable insert, a standard over-the-door wreath hook and ordinary crochet tools. Holly also uses 24 cm of narrow red ribbon.

At gauge, the arranged hangers are about 63-65 cm tall and 21-23 cm wide. The flat hat is 45 cm long with a 20 cm base; the loop-stitch beard is 16 cm long with a 16.7 cm top, ending above a full bouquet band; each backing shield is 20 x 24 cm. Finished size depends on gauge and placement.

Shopping allowances: Poinsettia 465 m; Holly 405 m; Winter White 461 m; Woodland 460 m. The PDF gives each colour separately and totals for all four. Approximate planned weights are 327 g, 294 g, 325 g and 324 g in the same design order, using the stated yarn and structure allowances. Keep the finished decoration below 450 g and within the hook rating.

Confident beginner level. Spot clean; remove the insert before washing and dry flat. Use indoors or on a covered porch, away from rain and direct strong sun. Decoration, not a toy.
