Four Christmas gnomes for a cosy corner of home
Choose Heart Gnome, Holly Gnome, Snow Gnome or Candy Gnome on a textured square pillow cover. Each has a tall floppy hat, ribbed brim, round peach nose, long white fringe beard, white cuffs, mittens and padded boots. An envelope back lets you remove the insert for washing.
Pattern details
This 40-page English PDF includes four designs. The shared pillow and gnome construction are printed once, followed by a chapter for each colourway and its hat details and background motifs.
Inside the pattern
- Heart Gnome: red hat, cream hat heart, six red background hearts, brown boots and a red border with white bobbles.
- Holly Gnome: forest-green hat and border, red bobbles, two hat leaves with three berries, and six leaf-and-berry background pairs.
- Snow Gnome: ice-blue hat, navy brim and border, pale-blue front, grey boots, one white hat snowflake and six small white snowflakes.
- Candy Gnome: red-and-white hat stripes every two rows, a hat peppermint, two small peppermints and four mini candy canes.
- A counted moss front, two overlapping back panels, sc joining and a two-colour border with sixteen bobbles per side. The 45 cm option has eighteen per side.
- Large clear type, a counted table for each piece, colour and yarn tables, measured placement diagrams, linked contents, bookmarks, US terms with UK conversion, finishing and care.
Materials and size
Use worsted / Aran weight (#4) cotton or acrylic, a 5.0 mm hook for the panels and border, and a 4.0 mm hook for the applique and motifs. Add a yarn needle, markers, pins, scissors, tape measure, a little washable stuffing and a square pillow insert.
The body is 40 x 40 cm for a nominal 16 in / 40 cm insert; the larger option is 45 x 45 cm for a nominal 18 in / 45 cm insert. Including the edging, allow about 43 x 43 cm or 48 x 48 cm. The arranged gnome is about 30 cm tall. Sizes depend on gauge and sewing.
Shopping allowances per 40 cm cover: Heart 930 m, Holly 980 m, Snow 965 m, Candy 950 m, split by colour in the PDF. Each cover uses 21 crocheted pieces, or 31 for Holly, plus 48 folded fringe strands forming 96 ends. The 45 cm option adds yarn as detailed in the pattern.
Intermediate level. Remove the insert, wash the cover gently in cool water and dry flat. Digital PDF crochet pattern only; no finished pillow, insert, yarn or tools are included.
