4 in 1 Farm Animal Bag Crochet Pattern

Make a small round crossbody bag with a farm-animal face. Choose a Cow, Pig, Sheep or Chick, all built from one shared round bag base with a long strap and a centre magnetic snap.
Pattern details
  • Cow: white body, two front black patches, a pink oval muzzle, small eyes, lined ears and short cream horns; one black patch on the back.
  • Pig: pink body, a darker-pink snout, rosy cheeks and folded ears; a curly tail on the back.
  • Sheep: charcoal face, cream bobble fleece cap and grey drooping ears; cream back with a bobble fleece band.
  • Chick: yellow body, two-piece orange beak, rosy cheeks and a three-loop tuft; two wings at the side gusset beside the back.

Finished size

At the stated gauge, the body measures about 20.6 cm diameter x 5.4 cm deep, excluding ears, horns and tuft. Including the mouth finishing row, its overall height is about 21.3 cm. The strap is about 115.4 cm between its attachment seams and 2.3 cm wide.

The top third stays open. Its nominal mouth chord is 17.81 cm; allowing for the seams gives about 16.48 cm clear width and a 19.03 cm inside diameter. The cord shell accommodates a phone up to 16 x 8 cm without a bulky case: insert it sideways and lower it into the centre. A thick lining reduces usable space.

Materials and skills

Use 2 mm woven cord yarn held DOUBLE with a 3.5 mm hook for the body, gusset, mouth edges and strap. Use ONE strand of the same cord with a 2.0-2.5 mm hook for all face parts. The eyes are crocheted discs with embroidered highlights. Add one sew-on magnetic snap, yarn and sewing needles, strong thread, scissors and markers. Optional fabric lining directions are included.

Doubled-cord gauge: 13 sc per 10 cm along the circumference and 13 turned rows per 10 cm; the 14-round circle measures 20.6 cm across. Single-strand gauge: 20 sc and 20 turned rows per 10 cm. Techniques include joined single crochet rounds, turned rows, increases, decreases, four-dc bobbles and sewing small parts.
