Grow a three-dimensional bouquet up the front of a cord tote. This 25-page English PDF contains four complete designs: Spring Tulip, Summer Sunflower, Autumn Harvest and Winter Poinsettia. Long stems meet at the bottom centre, leaves lift gently, and cupped or padded flower heads stand out from the bag.
Pattern details

Inside the pattern

  • One shared 52-hole tote body with 100 stitches around and 32 body rounds, two tubular handles and a fabric-liner fitting map.
  • Spring: seven upright purple and violet six-petal tulips with upward-facing mouths at two heights, two upright closed buds and five broad sage-green leaves.
  • Summer: three sunflowers about 7.9 cm across with raised brown bobble centres and double rings of yellow rays, four white daisies and heart-shaped green leaves.
  • Autumn: five orange and gold layered mums, three red and amber maple leaves and three wheat stalks with bobble grains.
  • Winter: three red poinsettias with eight pointed bracts each, yellow bobble centres, holly, nine red bobble berries and two pine sprigs for a festive Christmas tote.
  • US crochet terms with UK conversion, counted rows and rounds, colours for every piece, four measured vector placement drawings, linked contents and page bookmarks.

Materials and construction

Use a 22 x 10 cm pre-punched base with 52 perimeter holes, 2.0 mm woven craft cord, DK cotton bouquet yarn and a pre-sewn fabric liner. The body holds TWO strands of cord with a 3.5 mm hook; each handle uses ONE strand, a 2.5 mm hook for tabs and borders and a 3.0 mm hook for its tube. Use a 3.0 mm DK hook adjusted to the stated gauges, needles, matching sewing thread, pins, markers, scissors, a tape measure and a little stuffing.

At gauge, the flattened shell is 27.8 cm wide and 20 cm high above the base. Each handle tube is about 28 cm long. Cupped or raised heads project about 2.5-3.5 cm from the bag. The PDF gives per-colour shopping allowances for each design: 600 m / 656 yd of cord in total, plus DK yarn for its bouquet. Skill level: intermediate.

Choose soft lilac with deep-purple handles, cream with mustard handles, oatmeal over a rust lower band with rust handles, or cream over a red lower band with red handles.
