Four familiar quilt blocks, made for a little crossbody bag
Keep your phone close with the quiet comfort of a family quilt. Choose a flower garden with cream paths, one broad Log Cabin block, a twelve-blade Dresden Plate or a bold navy Ohio Star. Each cotton bag has a plain cream back, an outside slip pocket and a sew-on magnetic snap.
Pattern details
This 51-page English PDF includes four complete designs. The practical bag construction is printed once, followed by a chapter for each quilt block. Large clear type, numbered layouts, counted rows and rounds, colour and yarn tables, joining charts, linked contents and bookmarks help you work at your own pace.
Choose your design
- Log Cabin - confident beginner, 7 crochet pieces. One red hearth with picked-up light and dark logs keeps the stripes broad and the joining simple.
- Ohio Star - confident beginner, 15 crochet pieces. Nine mitred tiles make eight navy and denim points around a red centre, with written colour runs.
- Dresden Plate - intermediate, 20 crochet pieces. Twelve pointed blades and a ruby circle sit on one cream background.
- Grandmother's Flower Garden - intermediate, 21 crochet pieces, the most in the set with 15 manageable front motifs. Seven large 5 cm hexagons form one complete rose flower, with eight simple cream fillers and cream corners. Full hexagons join as you go on their fifth round.
Piece counts include one back, one pocket, one gusset, one doubled strap and two reinforced side tabs. The optional opening tab adds one piece. Picked-up sections stay attached.
Size and materials
The finished body is about 14.5 cm wide x 20 cm tall x 3 cm deep. It fits a phone up to 16.5 x 8 cm including its case, with room to slide it in and out. A flat 20-stitch, 24-row back pocket measures 10 x 12 cm for cards or folded reading glasses. The flat crossbody strap has about 120 cm free length, with instructions to shorten or lengthen it.
Use Worsted / Aran weight (#4) cotton and a 4.0 mm hook, with 20 sc stitches and 20 rows per 10 cm. Per-colour shopping allowances cover one complete bag. Add a four-hole sew-on magnetic snap set, strong matching thread, two small fabric reinforcement squares, a yarn needle, markers, scissors and a tape measure. Optional liner cut sizes are included in centimetres and inches.
US crochet terms with UK conversion. Spot clean around the snap and dry flat. The same four blocks are also available as a full-size tote pattern.
