A full-size mantel stocking, not a charm — 43 cm from the top of the cuff to the toe, worked as four flat rectangles in worsted single crochet with no shaping in the stocking body except two rows along the foot's lower edge. Santa combines flat pieces, a shallow face cap and stuffed details into one applique — hat, band, bobble, face, beard, nose — all sewn on before the two halves are joined, so every stitch goes through one layer.
