Materials: DK cotton for gnome baubles; DK / light worsted (#3) cotton for spirals, twisted ribbons and treats; DK / light worsted cotton or cotton blend for candles. All five specify a 2.5 mm hook as a starting point. Yarn amounts, colours, gauges and notions vary by set and design; adjust hook size to the chosen gauge.
Have a yarn needle, scissors and stitch markers ready. Filling is used for baubles, candles, some treats and holly berries. Spiral, ribbon and treat instructions include keyrings or clasps; baubles and candles have yarn loops. Read the chosen collection before buying materials. Crochet candles are decorative: keep away from real flames and heat.
Finished sizes by collection
- Gnome baubles: Ball about 7.2 cm across; about 11.5 cm high without the loop, or 16.5 cm with its empty loop extended.
- Spiral ornaments: All four: about 21.5 cm along the flat foundation edge, not the hanging drop. Full hanging height varies with the curl and topper.
- Twisted ribbons: Angel Wing, Festive Stripe and Peppermint Twist: about 21.5 cm along the flat foundation edge; Tinsel Drop: about 34.4 cm. These are not hanging heights.
- Candle ornaments: All four: about 6.4 cm of straight candle wall, excluding the base, top, yarn flame and loop; total height is not specified.
- Christmas treats: Christmas Pudding: about 3.3 cm body width, not full height. Gingerbread House: about 5.2 cm panel height before assembly. Hot Cocoa Mug: about 2.4 cm of mug wall, not full height.
Sizes are approximate at each stated gauge. Foundation lengths and component dimensions are not full hanging heights. Yarn, tension, curl, stuffing and assembly affect finished size.
