Add a warm, striped stable backdrop, a grey donkey with long ears and a red-and-gold blanket, a resting brown ox with cream horns, and a tan one-hump camel with a burgundy-and-gold tasselled saddle. The animals have plain faceless heads and pale muzzles, with matte cotton stitches and matching round display bases.

This 58-page English PDF contains all four designs, including the stable's small manger, straw loops, pitched roof and five-point gold star.

Materials and size

Use smooth worsted / Aran weight (#4) cotton, one strand, with a 3.5 mm hook at 18 sc and 20 rows over 10 cm, matching the Christmas Nativity set. Add filling, heavy plastic canvas, stiff plastic base inserts, thin felt, enclosed washer weights, a covered 16-gauge wire for the star, and ordinary crochet and sewing tools.

Approximate sizes: stable 26.7 cm wide x 12.0 cm deep x 27.4 cm tall; donkey 10.5 cm long x 4.2 cm wide x 14.5 cm tall; resting ox 16.0 cm long x 8.0 cm wide x 11.2 cm tall; camel 12.5 cm long x 4.2 cm wide x 17.0 cm tall. Animal heights include their bases. Round base diameters: donkey 12.7 cm, ox 17.0 cm and camel 14.9 cm. Gauge, filling and assembly affect the final size.

Shopping allowances: Stable 790 m; Donkey 325 m; Ox 305 m; Camel 380 m. Intermediate skill level. The stable stands behind the Holy Family; its shallow interior does not enclose the companion scene's entire base.
