Yarn, hook and size
Confident beginner. Use DK cotton and a 2.5 mm hook as a starting point; match 24 sc and 30 rounds over 10 cm. Yarn shopping allowances are listed by colour for each design, about 83-91 m per ornament including seams and tails.
At gauge, each stuffed ball is about 7.2 cm across. The hat point is about 4.5 cm from its base; the flat white beard is about 5.0 x 4.0 cm and the nose about 1.6 cm across. With the point raised, the ornament is about 11.5 cm high without its loop or 16.5 cm with its empty loop extended. The 10 cm chain cord folds to about 5 cm of rise. A bent point, stuffing and seam tension change the finished size.
Each complete ball has a separate continuous point-and-cap hat layer. You will also need polyester fibrefill, a tapestry needle, scissors, markers and a measuring tape. Gold means gold-coloured cotton yarn.
Care and use
Indoor decoration, not a toy. Keep away from small children and pets, heat and open flames. Follow the yarn label for gentle cleaning and let the filling dry fully.
